What CPR and Life Support courses Are Available?

CPR Courses

Red Deer First Aid has the widest range of courses offered to trainees. CPR training courses are divided into 3 levels: “A”, “C”, and “HCP”. CPR level “A” teaches rescue techniques for only adult victims. CPR level “C” encompasses level “A” and adds additional training which incorporates child and infant victims. CPR level “HCP”, the most advanced of the three, encompasses level’s “A” and “C”. This level teaches rescue techniques for individuals that work in the health care field where trained assistance and more advanced equipment is available.

Basic Life Support

Basic life Support (BLS) is a set of guidelines made by the American Heart Association and St Mark James. It outlines updates on techniques and pathways used in providing emergency care to a person who has suffered from cardiac arrest. Over the years, the guidelines have changed because of new studies regarding CPR. AEDs are now included in the emergency response system, along with CPR. AEDs are machines able to detect heart rhythms and apply needed shock to the victim. This is done manually or automatically and adjunct to CPR. These updated techniques are all included in the CPR training courses offered by Red Deer First Aid so trainees are assured of developing the latest skills and knowledge.

Infant CPR Courses

A unique course that is only offered with this training provider is infant CPR training courses for new and expecting parents. In this course the trained instructor comes to you and teaches your friends and family for 1.5 to 2 hours. No certification is provided, however, participants learn a variety of infant rescue skills and CPR techniques to use in case of infant emergency.
